Hooton is looking for a Senior PR Executive

Independent PR agency Hooton, based in central Amsterdam, is looking for a full-time PR Executive to join its passionate, culturally-led and multinational team. The ideal candidate will have a keen interest in media in the creative, sustainability and lifestyle sectors. Passionate about communications, creativity and the myriad of platforms available these days, we’re looking for someone who is equally excited about exploring experimental ways to talk to the growing media landscape. 

From writing and selling in press releases to the media and running PR campaigns and contributing to client strategies, Hooton Senior PR executives work within a wider team to influence public opinion or behaviour on behalf of the company’s clients.

About the job

  • Work with clients to create and execute PR campaign plans, from audience overview, messaging, assets, timings, media lists, KPI setting. With support from the PR Manager.
  • Write briefs for the Hooton writers for the creation of media assets.
  • Write press releases, news stories, articles, case studies and product pieces.
  • Pitch press releases and feature ideas by phone or email to national, regional and trade. journalists, across print, broadcast and online, to interest them in covering their clients’ stories.
  • Respond to phone calls and emails from journalists.
  • Arrange press trips, interviews and editorial meetings with key journalists for clients’ spokespeople - in person or over the phone - and facilitate these meetings where appropriate.
  • Analysis of media results, and collation of learnings and recommendations.

Reporting

  • Monitor, analyse and collate media coverage, and report results to the wider team and clients.
  • Deliver analytics reports on social media, reporting on traffic, engagement and follower figures.

Hooton clients

  • Take a collaborative and problem-solving approach to managing client relationships.
  • Compile meeting notes, and create weekly, monthly and annual reports
  • Compile and present media and industry research for client projects
  • Desktop research of the latest media and industry trends
  • Media list collation and management.
  • Organisation of all client documents.
  • Brainstorm fresh ideas for PR campaigns.
  • Attend client events and industry conferences.
  • Schedule meetings and manage agendas.

Hooton day to day

  • Maintain Hooton social media accounts and ensure that platforms 1) increase awareness, 2) increase website traffic, 3) promote client content, and 4) increase public engagement and views.
  • Manage and update the Hooton website and social media accounts with an ongoing schedule of appropriate content in line with Hooton’s values
  • Assist with organising events from team outings to press trips.
  • Archiving and filing.
  • Jumping on ad hoc requests from the Founder, Hooton accountants and team members.
  • Provide support for 5x15 Amsterdam events.

  • Communicates clearly and turns ideas into action.
  • Ensure all PR activities run smoothly, are organised, and are achieved within deadlines while keeping good team coordination, morale and collaboration.
  • Sees gaps and identifies solutions to improve business/company practises.
  • Other duties required and reasonable within the job scope.

  • You have excellent written and spoken English skills
  • Excellent written and spoken Dutch, German and/or French skills and a solid understanding of the Dutch, French and/or German PR landscape are a bonus 
  • You are hot on spelling, grammar and proof-reading, as well as have a creative flair for producing engaging copy.
  • From communicating ideas to your team to presenting stories to journalists, you can organise information in a succinct and interesting way to capture their attention. 
  • PR is all about people. You are approachable, friendly and empathetic, and able to relate to people on different levels within the agency, with clients and with the media.
  • You have the confidence to pick up the phone and speak to journalists, in a positive, friendly and upbeat tone.
  • You can work quickly and efficiently to meet tight media deadlines as well as the pressures of your team and clients, without compromising on quality.
  • You are resilient enough to pick up the phone to national journalists and can handle criticism and rejection.
  • You are the go-to for the zeitgeist; you keep abreast with emerging trends, influencers and technology.  
  • You can coordinate and manage a calendar of all relevant UK, European and US events.
  • You are a born networker, who enjoys attending industry / relevant events and keeps abreast with the PR industry as a whole.
  • You are well organised with great time management skills.
